I am often asked, why leadership coaching?
The simple answer? It truly makes a difference.
Often, the people I work with are at the top of their game. Yet, paradoxically, they find themselves coming to coaching with low self-esteem and a lack of belief in their ability to lead. Some are struggling with imposter syndrome. Some have relationship issues. Others are emotionally at their limit, over-worked and urgently looking for a balance to their lives.
As we begin our work, a question many of my coachees almost always ask is. ‘How do I adapt to change?’ This may be about the way they work, the way they relate to other people, the way they think and listen. The list of triggers is potentially endless, but the fundamental question remains – ‘How do we move with the changing times?’
Being curious is a great starting point in the search for an answer. Combined with a positive approach, an open mind, a willingness to learn and a commitment to invest time and effort, they discover that coaching can be truly game changing.
Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda, is best known for the most powerful waterfall in the world. Every second, the equivalent of 200 bathtubs full of water is forced through a gorge less than seven paces wide. The pressure is so great that the ground trembles around it.
Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.
